The Power of Community and Resilience: A Conversation with Stacia Harvey Randall, Co-Founder of Black Women of Hospitality
Picture this: You're a black woman in the hospitality industry facing an uphill battle of closed doors, microaggressions, and self-doubt. Sound familiar? I'm thrilled to have Stacia Harvey Randall, the co-founder and vice president of the nonprofit organization Black Women of Hospitality, joining me today. Stacia is a beacon of resilience, overcoming challenges and emerging as a leader in an industry where the advancement of people of color is often hindered. We dive deep into her inspiring journey, her insights into the industry, and the often overlooked power of how community service can enhance mental health.
Shifting focus, we delve into the mission of Stacia's organization, which champions the empowerment of black women in hospitality. Black Women of Hospitality serves as a haven for these women, offering support, coaching, and career opportunities. Stacia and I unpack the conflicting messages women in this industry grapple with and underscore the need for courage in trying something new. We delve into how her organization aims to uplift women, helping them build confidence to realize their goals.
Friends, meet: STACIA HARVEY-RANDALL
Stacia is the co-founder of the Black Women of Hospitality Organization. She has worked in the hotel industry for 22 years working for various brands. Stacia is originally from Berwick, Louisiana but resided in New Orleans, Louisiana for over 20 years. Stacia graduated from Southern University in New Orleans with a B.A. in General Studies and a Minor in Print Journalism. Stacia also obtained a master's degree from the University of Phoenix in Adult Training and Development. She started her career as a Front Desk Agent and now is a Director of Human Resources. Her passion is public speaking, recruiting, and leadership development. She overcame many barriers throughout her journey, and now her drive is to assist other women with reaching their goals and creating pathways to fulfill their service dreams!
